Little by little he become a vital figure in the team that won the Copa Libertadores in 2017 in which he was named man of the match in the second leg of the final against Argentine side Lanus.
Premier League giants Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool had all been interested in the 21-year-old.

The addition of Arthur means Barcelona now exceed their quota of three non-EU players, however, that should soon be remedied when Philippe Coutinho, who is eligible to secure Portuguese passport through his wife, secures EU citizenship. The other non-EU players on the clubs books are Yerry Mina and Paulinho.
