The Detroit Red Wings head to the Gila River Arena to take the ice with the Arizona Coyotes.
The Detroit Red Wings have been hot on their current road trip but they looked a little weary in a 4-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings at the Staples Center on Monday. Anze Kopitar continued his recent surge with a goal and a trio of helpers with Alec Martinez, Tyler Toffoli and Dwight King also lighting the lamp. Milan Lucic added a pair of assists to make a winner of Jonathan Bernier and his 25 save effort that lifted the Kings to a 7-1-1 mark in their last nine contests. The Red Wings received goals from Tomas Tater and Alexey Marchenko with the loss going to Jimmy Howard who gave up three goals on 30 shots with Detroit falling to 4-1 on their six game road swing.
The Arizona Coyotes are almost at last season’s win total after a 4-3, overtime win at the Gila River Arena versus the Edmonton Oilers Tuesday. Oliver Ekman-Larsson ended this in dramatic fashion with his power play tally with just under nine seconds remaining in the extra session. Max Domi did the heavy lifting for the Coyotes during regulation with his first hat trick with Larsson also assisting on each. Louis Dominique allowed all three goals on 28 shots as the Yotes won number four in a row. Justin Schultz, Leon Draisaitl and Benoit Pouliot scored for Edmonton but Anders Nilsson couldn’t make the support hold up despite 27 stops as the slumping Oilers have lost 10-13.
The Red Wings are 4-1 in their last 5 overall and the under is 4-1-1 in Red Wings last 6 vs. Western Conference while Detroit are 4-1 in their last 5 road games. The Coyotes are 4-0 in their last 4 overall and the over is 5-0-1 in Coyotes last 6 home games vs. a team with a winning road record while going 4-1 in Coyotes last 5 home games.
