On Thursday, Los Angeles Clippers point guard Patrick Beverley revealed that he requested a trade from the Houston Rockets before taking the deal with Clippers. Beverly told the press he was the one that asked for the trade in search for a bigger opportunity and a bigger chance to display his skills on a high level. They traded Beverly to the Clippers as part of a package for point guard Chris Paul. He also said the team was really good with him, and put him in a situation where he can thrive and be successful.
The 29-year-old athlete spent the first five seasons of his career with the Rockets after failing to catch on with the Miami Heat out of college basketball. He was selected in the second round of the 2009 NBA draft out of Arkansas by the famous Angeles Lakers, then traded to Miami. He spent four seasons playing overseas. After he signed with Houston, the young promise developed into a starter. Starting 240 games over the course of five season, he earned a reputation as a top-notch perimeter defender.
In 2013-14, he was named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team getting to the first team last season. In season 2016-17, the player averaged 9.5 points and a career-high 5.9 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. The young promise also shot 42.0 perfect from the field and 38.2 percent from long range. Beverly set a different skill and has fewer credentials than Paul, but he will have an opportunity to play for a big team in a new Clippers´s look.
