The Boston Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers will play each other for the first time since late October when they face off in the Wednesday Night Rivalry game (8 p.m. ET; NBCSN, TVA Sports).

Philadelphia won 5-4 in overtime at TD Garden on Oct. 21, but the Bruins haven’t gone home empty-handed against the Flyers since a 5-2 loss at Wells Fargo Center on April 23, 2013. One big reason for Boston’s success against Philadelphia has been the play of goaltender Tuukka Rask, who has a 9-1-2 career record against the Flyers with a 2.07 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage

The Bruins look to shake out of their losing funk as they take to the road to battle the Flyers in Philadelphia on Wednesday night. The Boston looked poised to make a serious push at the Atlantic division crown just a couple of weeks back but thanks to their 3-6-1 stretch and Florida’s surge the tables have turned and now they are fighting to keep afloat sitting in fifth place. However, the entire division remains up for grabs as there is just five points separating second from sixth and with the Metro division heating up as well the B;s know that their only ticket into the dance will be claiming one of the three spots given to the Atlantic division. Boston is coming off a loss but they are a very impressive 12-4-3 on the road this season while the Flyers are 10-5-4 at home. The Flyers meanwhile are starting to turn things up a notch which is bad news for the rest of the Metropolitan division and those in the Atlantic aspiring for a wild card spot as this is a team who was vastly underachieving and their success was lying dormant waiting to be found. Philly has a pretty solid roster and when they get on a winning streak they are a tough group to slow down and while they may be a little too far removed from making a run at home ice in the first round they are a legitimate threat for a wild card spot. Pittsburgh Penguins at Boston Bruins

Pittsburgh Penguins at Boston BruinsCheck WagerWeb and find the best betting site!!!!

The Pittsburgh Penguins will play their second game under new coach Mike Sullivan when they visit theBoston Bruins in the Wednesday Night Rivalry game (8 p.m. ET; NBCSN).

The Penguins named Sullivan as their coach Saturday after firing Mike Johnston. It’s his first job as an NHL coach since being fired by the Bruins after the 2005-06 season. After that, he served as an assistant for three teams before working in player development for the Chicago Blackhawks in 2014-15.

Pittsburgh and Boston had a total of 94 shots on goal Monday, but neither won its game. The Penguins had 45 shots but lost 4-1 to the Washington Capitals in Sullivan’s first game. The Bruins outshot theEdmonton Oilers 49-24 but lost 3-2 in overtime.

The Penguins weren’t the first team to fire their head coach this season but perhaps are the most surprising group to do so as expectations were sky high for them and thoughts of turmoil and personnel changes at this point in the season were certainly not in the cards. However, a 15-11-3 record to start the season that is mired 3-4-3 slump in their last 10 has them playing catch up in the Metro division and at risk of missing the playoffs entirely. The Pens are in further disarray as they will now lean on Jeff Zatkoff in the crease as Marc-Andre Fleury will be out for at least a week and while Zatkoff has proven he can step in and produce victories he is facing a tall task in this one as the Bruins are 6-1-3 in their last 10 games and have been playing very well of late.
The Bruins are a modest 6-7-2 at home this season but their staggering 10-2-2 mark on the road has them in the mix in the Atlantic division and if they can get a win here against a Penguins team dealing with a bag full of issues they should be in the clear to keep their winning ways afloat. Boston is a scary team when they are clicking and while they don’t have some key pieces from their core from the last few seasons they still have plenty of weapons at both ends of the rink and if Tuukka Rask can steal a few games the rest of the way the Bruins could very well challenge for the division crown.

Edmonton Oilers at Boston Bruins

Edmonton Oilers at Boston Bruins Check WagerWeb and find the best betting site!!!!

The Edmonton Oilers make the long trip to TD Garden to face the Boston Bruins.

If you told the Edmonton Oilers they would score seven times versus the visiting Rangers I’m sure they would think they would think they won easily but unfortunately New York still made the Oilers sweat in a 7-5 decision. Lauri Korpikoski logged a hat trick and Taylor scored twice but Anders Nilsson was charged with five goals on 34 shots to still get the win. New York received a pair of goals from Derick Brassard with Chis Kreider, Rick Nash and Mats Zuccarello but Henrik Lundqvist allowed five goals and was replaced in the third with Antti Raanta who gave up a goal on three shots.

The Boston Bruins defeated the Florida Panthers at home for the 9th consecutive time by a 3-1 count on Saturday for back to back victories. Ryan Spooner lit the lamp twice and Brad Marchand added an empty net tally with 1:23 left to secure the win. Tuukka Rask was outstanding between the pipes with a 26 save performance as the Bruins raised their record to 16-9-3 and Rask upped his record to 14-2-1 against the Panthers. Florida’s lone goal came off the stick of Reilly Smith in the third period but Roberto Luongo couldn’t make it stand up with two goals given up on 24 shots as the Panthers fell to 14-12-4 and are now three points behind Boston in the Atlantic.

The under is 5-0 in Oilers last 5 Monday games and the Oilers are 0-4 in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a losing home record while going  4-0 in their last 4 games following a win. The under is 4-0 in Bruins last 4 overall and the over is 4-1-1 in Bruins last 6 Monday games while the Bruins are 4-1 in their last 5 home games. The Oilers are 0-8 in the last 8 meetings in Boston and the home team is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings while Edmonton  are 3-13 in the last 16 meetings.

Nashville Predators at Boston Bruins

Nashville Predators at Boston BruinsCheck WagerWeb and find the best betting site!!!!

The Boston Bruins are returning home in a good mood after a dominant performance that allowed them to avoid a winless road trip.

The Bruins will try to keep heading in the right direction Monday night by continuing their recent success against the scuffling Nashville Predators.

The Nashville Predators don’t have time to sulk on two losses to end the week.

Their upcoming schedule has them playing four games in six nights, including three division games, two of which are against the defending Stanley Cup champions. Tonight, they get to make their annual trip to Boston to test their luck against the Bruins.

The Nashville Predators started the season red hot but have cooled off substantially since as they sit in fifth in the Central division thanks to a 3-5-1 stretch over their last 10 contests. The Preds continue to thrive from their defense and goaltending but their offense has run dry this season after seemingly finding their groove last year and while we still have more than half of the year left it is a cause for concern for the Preds especially when they face off against teams that also have strong back ends. The Predators will likely turn to Pekka Rinne in this one as he will go up against his international teammate in Tuukka Rask who has been the go to guy in Boston for years now. Nashville is 5-5-3 on the road this season while the Bruins are a modest 5-6-1 at home.

The Bruins should contact the schedule makers and request to play all of their games away from home as they possess one of the league’s best winning percentages on the road and they made that clear again over the weekend as they swept through Western Canada. Boston heads into tonight’s game back at home looking to improve their mark in the Atlantic division as they trail the Red Wings by just three points for second place and while they remain 10 points back of the Canadiens for top spot there is still plenty of hockey left to be played and that task isn’t insurmountable by any stretch. Boston is playing very well right now and while I am a little nervous with how they have played at home this season I think they get a big effort here and take down the Nashville Predators.

Boston Bruins at Edmonton Oilers

Boston Bruins at Edmonton OilersCheck WagerWeb and find the best betting site!!!!

The Oilers look to rebound after an ugly loss on the road against the Maple Leafs as they return home to battle the Boston Bruins.

With the Boston Bruins opening up a three game road trip on Wednesday night in Edmonton, they stare down the opportunity to add to their longest winning streak of the season.  The surging Bruins shot up the division standings in the second half of November by adding to their levels of energy and emotion, two aspects had a lot to do with their wins in Toronto and Detroit just before Thanksgiving.

Those were two games where the talent on the roster alone wasn’t getting the job done.  Boston was vastly outplayed in Detroit, and ended up winning via solid goaltending and timely goal scoring from young players.  The emotion mustered in the third period and overtime of that game spilled over into the Black Friday matinee against the Rangers, where the B’s came full circle with everything they had been working towards during the first quarter of the season.

The Oilers’ early season futility took a turn for the worse on Monday as they dropped a 3-0 decision to a rookie goaltender who was playing behind the second to worst team in the league which firmly has the Oil at the bottom of the league standings. Edmonton hasn’t looked great over the last few weeks and with injuries to key guys and a seemingly unwavering losing culture they aren’t in a good spot to turn things around any time soon. Edmonton is 4-5-1 at home this season while the Bruins ate 8-2 on the road. Cam Talbot will likely get the call as he will go up against Tuukka Rask who continues to be the work horse in the Boston crease

The Bruins meanwhile are red hot and have won their last five games overall and their winning streak has propelled them into fourth place in the Atlantic but are just two points back of the Ottawa Senators for second. The B’s were expected to take a bit of a hit this season but they have responded accordingly and in this the first match up between these two teams featuring former Bruins general manager Pete Chiarelli playing his old team I think both sides will be out for victory. Edmonton is a mess once again and the Bruins are among the league’s hottest teams right now and have been spectacular on the road winning eight of 10 games.

The Arizona Coyotes look to conclude their five-game road trip with a third straight victory when they visit the Boston Bruins on Tuesday.
